Web cleaning technology for optimal production!
Weducon’s HE-series web cleaning solutions give you the best non-contact web cleaning results. At the same time improving working conditions at reduced energy costs.
How does Weducon’s web cleaning solution work? And why are its cleaning results so satisfying?
Innovation
Weducon’s web cleaning technology is founded on experience, continuous innovation, and analysis of our customers’ production processes.
Production processes are not uniform or constant – they evolve. A web cleaning solution that worked efficiently in the past may not be sufficient today and tomorrow.
Web cleaning technology requires innovation and transformation to be efficient. Let us explain how Weducon applies innovations to web cleaning technology.
Functionality of Weducon’s web cleaning process
The innovative and highly efficient cleaner head design enables the boundary layer to enter the cleaner before it is disturbed. Dust and contaminants are released with optimally positioned dischargers.
Efficient self-cleaning filter/fan units offer long-lasting constant volumes of emission-free air, thereby stabilising the moving substrate on their way through the cleaner.
The boundary layer is broken in the cleaner, enabling the system to distract particles and debris that cause corrosion.
Red lines:
Moving web carries the boundary layer, including dust, fibres, and other particles. The cleaner absorbs this layer, including the harmful coated particles.
Active ionisation:
24 V DC anti-static devices create a robust compensating zone of both positive and negative ions building a static charge in the substrate. The neutralised web does not attract dust immediately after cleaning.
Blue lines:
Conditioned purified air from the filter/fan unit stabilises the web in a semi-closed loop, thereby sweeping the contaminated surface.
Purple lines:
Drawn air from the areas behind the cleaner. At this stage no boundary layer is present.
The airflow marked in blue represents overpressure generated by the filter/fan unit. This layer of air ‘carries’ the web through the cleaner without mechanical contact.
Since the flow of pressurised air is about 70% of the total volume, the vacuum end is stronger. This forces the total blown-in volume to be absorbed by the vacuum chambers and the air drawn in from outside of the cleaner. The angled access of the cleaning device allows the cleaner to absorb the web-generated boundary layer along with dust, particles, and debris.
Ionisation
The blowing chambers of the web cleaner are equipped with powerful 24 V DC ion generators on both sides of the web. These ionisers, with protection class IP66, have built-in high voltage power supplies. They also provide real-time feedback on performance and technical failures.
Optimal aerodynamic performance and low noise levels
The specially designed slots in both pressure and vacuum chambers prevent accumulation of dust and particles. Moreover, they improve aerodynamic performance and contribute to the impressive noise reduction. The die-cast hose connections further add to aerodynamic performance and reduced noise levels.
Mechanical features, such as the connection of the profiles using special clips, perfect performance. Measures that prevent bending and deformation add to impressive cleaning results.
Absolute control
Festo® multi-step cylinders guarantee a step-by-step adaptation of the space between the two sides of the web cleaner. The cylinders are controlled by the standard interface that contains electrical and pneumatic components. The interface connects the cleaner, the filter/fan unit, and the machine or line it becomes part of. The control options are as follows:
- manual
- by means of the machine or line control system generated impulses
- as a standalone system with support from our optional Automatic Impulse Generator (AIG).
The AIG guarantees optimal use of the HE 90 Web Cleaner by controlling the following tasks:
- measuring the substrate thickness
- responding to order changes
- opening and closing of the cleaner head
- starting and stopping the filter/fan unit.
